Six Senses Ninh Van Bay

One thing becomes clear when you step off the boat onto the private jetty at Six Senses Ninh Van Bay; these people know how to do top quality, laid back luxury.

But don’t let this relaxed vibe fool you into thinking that they might not have everything covered, we’re talking world class quality here.

Prepare to step into the world of luxury and not want to leave…

The Room:

We stayed in a ‘Rock Villa’ where our bedroom overlooked our own private pool and the East Vietnam Sea. The villas at Six Senses certainly have the wow factor and ours was no exception.

Sea views everywhere we looked, huge boulders (placed by nature a long time ago) formed part of our villa as well as the landscape of the resort, there was a beautiful harmony with nature everywhere.

Here’s the rundown of our beautiful Rock Villa…There was one building for our bedroom and bathrooms (one indoor bathroom, one outdoor rain shower) and another building across the sun deck, for a separate day room.

This day room had a huge day bed for relaxing, a great coffee machine, wine fridge, mini bar, table and chairs looking out over that beautiful ocean…

Our ‘day room’ – a perfect place to relax during the day.

Go through the door at the back of the day room and find the steps that led us down to our own private cave. Yes, a cave, we never knew how much we would enjoy having our own cave.

There is something very special about having your own private cave to enjoy.

We loved the beautiful wooden or copper fixtures and fittings in our bathrooms.

There was a full range of amenities including a natural insect repellent full of essential oils and a traditional Vietnamese herbal bath soak to enjoy in one of the coolest bath tubs we’ve ever seen.

A cool place for a Vietnamese herbal bath soak.

The bed was blissfully comfortable and had the most amazing view to wake up to.

Huge, sliding wooden doors let the fresh sea breeze in and allowed us to view the most inspiring morning sunrise from our own bed, this is surely the stuff that dreams are made of?

A breathtakingly beautiful sunrise.

Easy to stay in bed an admire this view.

Last but certainly not least, our Rock Villa had a private infinity pool, warmed to bath-like temperatures from the Vietnamese sun, overlooking the peaceful waters of Ninh Van Bay.

Needless to say, we really, really loved this pool.

The Property:

Six Senses Ninh Van Bay occupies a huge private bay, with the sea on one side and jungle stretching up amongst the giant pre-historic boulders on the other side.

There are tennis courts, a pool, beach, spa, vegetable garden and our villa (like all villas at Six Senses Ninh Van Bay) came with our very own personalised bikes so we could explore the resort.

A great way to get around and explore our beautiful surroundings.

There are several places to enjoy a drink or something to eat; ‘Dining By The Bay’, ‘Drinks By The Bay’, ‘Dining By The Pool’, ‘Dinner In The Wine Cave’ and ‘Dining By The Rocks’ all offer something unique and provide an impressive backdrop to the excellent food being served.

The Service:

The service we experienced during our stay can only be described as top class.

From arrival to our departure, there always seemed to be someone on hand. As we stepped off the boat we were met by the General Manager who introduced us to our own butler who made sure we got to do everything we wanted to during our stay.

Our butler booked us into yoga classes, made our dinner reservations, transported us to and from our villa to wherever we needed to be and all with a friendly smile.

Not only this, but he’d turn up with little gifts for us and even a vegan birthday cake so we could celebrate in style. The service was very personalised and seemed effortless even though we’re sure he was working pretty hard behind the scenes.

A vegan chocolate birthday cake!

Everyone we met in the resort took the time to talk to us about our travels and being vegan (as well as pointing us in the direction of things we could eat or making us something special). People seemed genuinely friendly and welcoming which really made the service exceptional.

Vegan Food:

The amazing vegan food at Six Senses Ninh Vanh Bay began as soon as we got to our room.

On arrival our fridge was full of vegan canapes (olives, fresh spring rolls and satay sauce to go with mini tofu skewers) and a bottle of sparking wine (thankfully vegan!).

We also had an infinite supply of some very addictive vegan sweet treats; sugared ginger slices and salty sweet tamarind sweets, dusted with a chilli kick (a big vegan thumbs up).

These vegan sweets in our room were far too moreish!

When we weren’t sipping vegan wine or eating sweets, there seemed to be awesome vegan food everywhere.

Breakfast gave us a chance to eat delicious fresh fruit and make our own healthy juices from the mix and match organic juice bar.

Six Senses Ninh Van Bay_2932

Healthy, healthy, healthy… we loved the organic juice bar at breakfast.

There was a whole range of vegan food we could choose from the buffet each day like fresh breads, Vietnamese congee and vegan sushi as well as an exceptional lentil dhal.

So good we had seconds…

Because we are vegan, some special dishes were made for us including deliciously fresh Vietnamese stir fried noodles and vegetables, served with a soy chilli dressing. Yum.

How to describe? Noodleiscious loveliness…

For dinner we indulged in beautifully cooked Vietnamese dishes like ‘ravioli’ made from a wide rice noodle, dressed with fresh herbs and filled with vegetables, tofu and mushrooms; or traditional Vietnamese Ban Xeo rice flour pancakes filled with beansprouts and juicy, exotic mushrooms.

Fresh and light, we loved this Vietnamese take on ‘ravioli’.

Light rice flour pancakes filled with delicious mushrooms and finished off with fresh herbs and salad. A true taste of Vietnam…

All in all, the vegan food we had prepared for us was delicious, fresh, full of flavour and beautifully presented.

The Location:

Six Senses Ninh Van Bay is near Nha Trang in Vietnam. The resort can only be reached by private boat (arranged with your reservation) which is a great way to arrive for check-in.

The Six Senses private jetty is about an hours drive away from Nha Trang Airport (where regular international and domestic flights arrive / depart) or a taxi from Nha Trang city centre takes about 20 minutes.

Great review! I think you’ve captured the vibe of SSNVB perfectly.
We loved it there too. Our first visit was 9 years ago when we thought it was excellent; when we returned last June it was exceptional.
Initially we were in a beach villa, with direct access to the sea. The views of the bay from the upstairs day room were stunning.
We spent the last five nights in a water villa. Amazing, secluded rooms, set between natural boulders, with private decking and an infinity pool. With direct access to the coral reef, snorkelling was a major highlight.
The food was fantastic and we had dinner in the wine cellar which was a great experience.
Unfortunately we couldn’t make it back for the 10th Anniversary celebrations but will no doubt visit again in the future.

      thanks for the response Matt!
it certainly is a special place…this is why so many people return again and again

the water villas look stunning, we have never stayed in one, but the direct sea access is pretty cool…maybe next time:)

we are off to Six Senses Yao Noi at the weekend and hear great things about that resort too, where are you off to next?
