Bangkok Vegan Tour
We’re just back from Bangkok having hosted clients at the start of their Thailand Vegan Tour, we crafted a Bangkok Vegan Tour for them before they set off to explore Chiang Mai and Phuket. Whilst in Bangkok we stayed at ZAZZ Urban Bangkok which is just out of the centre of town but located close to MRT Rama 9 which allows easy access to everything Bangkok has to offer. Best described as ‘lean luxury’ this relatively new brand presents a stylish and funky offering where you can expect to find street art adorning the walls of the roof top bar whilst enjoying a cocktail or cold beer.
Vegan Food Cart
First stop on our vegan tour of Bangkok was a street food cart off Silom Road which serves simple but delicious noodle soup and a vegetable and tofu stir fry every day. It was the perfect way to start our tour, sat on small plastic chairs next to the side of the road watching the world go by and listening to the religious mantra playing from the nearby Hindu temple. This style of dining is synonymous with Thailand and something we see on every street corner of Bangkok so what better way to introduce our guests to vegan food in Bangkok!
Veganerie
No vegan tour of Bangkok, or indeed no trip to Bangkok would be complete without eating at one of the Veganerie locations. We headed to Veganerie Concept just behind Benjasiri Park for coffee and and waffles, it should be vegan law that every time you visit Bangkok you need to eat one of the sweet and sugary waffle plates, there are plenty of savoury options too but the waffles are just divine…
May Veggie Home
Next was the first of our 2 lunch stops at one of our favourite vegan restaurants in Bangkok, May Veggie Home. You just can’t go wrong when you eat here, the food is fresh, well priced and all very tasty especially the Thai curries and soups. There are plenty of Western options including a vegan burger but for us it’s all about the Thai food at May Veggie Home.
Vegan Food Court
Then off to a shopping mall food court to a Thai veggie spot, after all this is the way many people choose to take their lunch in Bangkok so why not join them? I must admit by this stage we were all pretty full and not wanting to ruin our last location so didn’t eat much but it was another fun and authentic Bangkok dining experience that the guests enjoyed.
Barefood Bangkok
Last but by no means least was a visit to the vegan cheese making wizards who reside on Soi 61 close to Ekkamai Station. Not only is the vegan nut cheese at Barefood Bangkok insanely delicious but Edo and Taksina are perfect hosts. We shared a large platter with 6 different flavours and it was truly the highlight of the tour. Wow, these guys are good!
ZAZZ Urban Retreat
We wouldn’t stay anywhere unless we were sure to enjoy some vegan food and the menus at Day’Li, the restaurant at ZAZZ Urban Bangkok included a number of plant based options including a vegan burger and a selection of healthy smoothie bowls. Upon request chef prepared a few other ‘off menu’ vegan dishes which were great including a fruit sushi platter for breakfast, also a fresh salad and delicious tofu dish which made up part of our dinner.
Vegan Friendly Luxury Hotels in Thailand
Having eaten their way around town during their Bangkok Vegan Tour, our guests headed off for some culture and relaxation in Chiang Mai and Phuket (and lots more vegan food of course). We left them pretty confident that they would love the rest of their Thailand vegan adventure as they selected a couple of vegan friendly luxury resorts that were sure to deliver…
Away Chiang Mai
Away Chiang Mai is the only vegetarian or vegan resort in Chiang Mai and we’ve heard wonderful things about it. We love Chiang Mai and the addition of an all vegetarian resort that is super vegan friendly makes us want to return even more! Our good friends from Mindful Wanderlust have stayed there and loved it, here’s their review of Away Chiang Mai and here is our Vegan Guide to Chiang Mai.
Six Senses Yao Noi
The final stop on their Thailand Vegan Tour will be spent enjoying vegan luxury at Six Senses Yao Noi. A short flight to Phuket followed by a transfer to the harbour and an exhilarating speed boat ride will see them arrive at this stunning island jungle retreat with unique views of Phang Nga Bay. We are big fans of Six Senses and were more than happy to recommend this idyllic location as the perfect place to end their Thailand Vegan Tour. Here is our review of Six Senses Yao Noi.
Hola, quisiera saber que precio tiene “aproximadamente” armar un tour similar para Marzo 2019. Seríamos dos personas
Hello Paulina. The price for a bespoke tour depends on itinerary and also our locations at the time. If we are based in Bangkok then the price does not include any transport or hotel expenses however, if we need to travel to Bangkok to meet you this would be reflected in the price. Please feel free to email for fuethr details paul@veganfoodquest.com thank you!
We are currently based in Siem Reap so can organise vegan tours here very easily upon request also…
