Regent Singapore
Regent Singapore closed in 2022, with Conrad Singapore Orchard from Hilton Hotels & Resorts opening in 2023.
Regent Singapore is close to all the major attractions in Singapore, which is perfect if you can drag yourself away from what’s inside (we warn you this might be hard). We visited to as part of our Vegan Food Quest to find, eat and write about the best vegan food in the world and were seriously impressed with the service, hospitality and last but definitely not least, the vegan food.

The Vegan Food
Breakfast was served in Basilico where staff had already been told about our vegan diet and were expecting us (faultless communication that was typical of our whole stay). The buffet offered a good selection of vegan food, the staff were able to point out which items were vegan, answer any queries and we were served excellent quality espressos from the restaurant’s espresso bar (coffee lovers will be very happy here). The staff continued with the vegan-friendly service by adapting some dishes for us like this plain congee, which we happily added some tasty little extras too including ‘youtiao’ (savoury Chinese donuts) and fried shallots.

There’s also wonderful vegan food to be found in Dolcetto by Basilico, the Regent’s gourmet pasticceria including Chef Angelo’s personal recipe granola which just happens to be vegan (as well as being delicious). No trip to he Regent Singapore would be complete without visiting Manhattan, for a classic cocktail made from the huge selection of artisanal spirits displayed behind the bar. All we can say is that these guys know how to make a good cocktail (they age their Negroni mix for 3 months in wooden barrels) and what they don’t know about high quality ice preparation, isn’t worth knowing. When people pay this much attention to detail, you know the result is going to be good.

But when you’re in town, it’d be a crime not to make a dinner reservation at Basilico and eat some of the most exquisite, fine dining, vegan Italian food made by the very talented Executive Sous Chef Angelo Ciccone. Below are 3 of our favourite dishes from our vegan dining experience and here you can read about our amazing meal at Basilico.

The Vegan Essentials
Our bed already had the usual feather pillows and duvet removed to be replaced with feather free synthetic ones; great service from the team. The amenities in our suite were plant-based luxury brand L’Occitane (from their Verbena range) and we’re waiting to hear back from them as to whether they are suitable for vegans or not.
The Vegan Food Quest Verdict
Make a reservation so you can enjoy a luxury vegan stay where you can experience amazing vegan Italian fine dining, followed by an expertly mixed cocktail, a restful sleep in a great room with a vegan bed and then awake for a sumptuous breakfast the next morning. Don’t forget to grab some of chef Angelo’s granola from Dolcetto before you go so your luxury vegan experience can continue after checkout.

We were guests of Regent Singapore but please rest assured that their generosity in hosting us didn’t influence our views
