Tubkaak Krabi Boutique Resort

Once you get to Tubkaak Krabi Boutique Resort in Southern Thailand, you probably won’t want to leave, the resort is surrounded by natural beauty and the pristine beach provides an ever changing backdrop, we paid them a visit and fell in love with the little slice of paradise this boutique resort has created.

The whole resort has been built and designed according to feng shui principles, which might go part of the way to explaining the wonderful ‘feel’ of the place, we relaxed in our villa, with private pool and jacuzzi, and found the comfort difficult to leave.

When we did manage to leave the secluded luxury of our villa, we were greeted with the peaceful and well kept gardens and a breathtaking sunset.

The Vegan Food

There was a breakfast buffet which didn’t have many vegan choices other than fresh fruit, juice and salad (the staff were able to tell us that the bread was not vegan).

As we couldn’t eat much of the other food on offer, the chef made us our own vegan dishes, we were served colourful pineapple and vegetable fried rice; cooked to perfection and we also enjoyed the vegan ‘Pad See Ew’, wide rice noodles flavoured with soy and garlic and full of crunchy fresh vegetables.

For dinner we had an amazing collection of traditional Thai food, selected from the regular menu and made vegan for us, we began with healthy rice noodle hand rolls, packed with fresh salad leaves and served with a sweet and spicy chilli sauce.

Next we got to try a vegan ‘Banana Blossom Salad’ for the first time; we absolutely love trying new foods and as we had seen many non-vegan versions of this dish before, we were very excited when it arrived, served in a banana blossom ‘shell’.

The chilli and cashew vegetable creation tasted divine

Vegan excitement continued as we ate ‘Chilli and Cashew Vegetables’, for those who have never eaten this dish, imagine a sweet rich BBQ like sauce laden with smoked, spicy dried chillies covering a mixture of creamy cashew nuts and crunchy, garden fresh vegetables.

We also ate ‘Eggplant in Soy and Garlic’, a simple eggplant dish where the use of fermented soy beans gave a nutty, sweet taste to the soy based sauce.

Thailand is famous for it’s curries and the Tubkaak Krabi Boutique Resort vegan ‘Vegetable Red Curry’ was everything a Thai curry should be; spicy, sweet, creamy, full of lemongrass and lime leaves and wholeheartedly delicious.

For dessert we had ‘Mango Sticky Rice’ and we have to say that this was a particularly good version of this Thai classic, the rice was so well cooked and there were just enough of the crispy yellow beans on top to give an extra crunch.

The Vegan Essentials

Top marks on the vegan pillow front as Tubkaak Krabi Boutique Resort don’t use feather pillows and e can confirm that the bathroom amenities aren’t tested on animals, but we are not sure if they contain animal products..

The spa use lots of natural herbs, fruits and oils in their treatments so lots of vegan options there and as the building is so beautiful (like the rest of the resort) it’s well worth the visit.
