Terraces

Four Seasons Chiang Mai

The luxurious Four Seasons Resort Chiang Mai is set amongst the terraced rice fields in Northern Thailand, with an awe inspiring location, an unrivalled level of service and impeccable fine dining it was right at the top of our list of ‘must visit’ locations whilst in town. Terraces, which takes it’s name from the incredible and ever changing view of the surrounding rice terraces – offers International fine dining to their discerning guests.

How would their team of talented chefs cater for a couple of vegan guests who were in the midst of their mission to Find, Eat & Write about the Best Vegan Food in the World?

The Vegan Food

Our meal got off to a great start with a pre starter of tasty little arancini; the rich and creamy rice balls, breaded and lightly fried were delicate and packed full of flavour, we could have happily eaten another plateful of these!

Delicious arancini balls

The starter used a couple of our favourite ingredients, quinoa and barley, which were combined and seasoned perfectly to create a light, fresh and healthy dish which everyone at the table loved. This type of cuisine shows that vegan food can be simple, creative and packed with flavours when prepared correctly, the team at Four Seasons Chiang Mai delivered this dish perfectly.

Healthy, light and full of goodness

Our main course was a beautifully presented tofu dish served with soy, lightly cooked spring vegetables and a timbale of nutrition packed red rice. Red rice is a whole grain that is a great source of fiber and iron which makes a healthy addition to anyones diet; with it’s nutty flavour and alongside the rich soy reduction, silken tofu and perfectly cooked vegetables this dish was very enjoyable.

And next came the dessert, vegan desserts can be a bit hit and miss, don’t get us wrong but fresh tropical fruit and sorbet is very tasty, very healthy and probably the most sensible option when you are trying to eat a balanced meal but what if you don’t want your dessert to be a ‘healthy option’ and you want chocolate?! The vegan brownie at Four Seasons Resort Chiang Mai was fantastic, it was the perfect end to a memorable meal; rich, nutty, chocolaty and oh so tasty! Drizzled with a strawberry jus and garnished with fresh strawberries and mint this was vegan dessert heaven.

The Vegan Food Quest Verdict

Book a table at Terraces to enjoy International vegan fine dining from a chef that goes out of his way to make sure vegan guests have the same wonderful experience as other non – vegan guests. Make sure to arrive early enough for cocktails at Ratree Bar whilst watching the sunset over the rice fields before moving next door for a vegan meal you will remember.
