Top 10 Vegan Eats in London
Updated June 2025
When we were contacted about publishing this guest post in 2019 the timing could not have been more perfect. We were planning a trip to London and after 5 years of living in Southeast Asia our London vegan knowledge is a little rusty to say the least. Thanks to Jenny for your efforts in sharing your Top 10 Vegan Eats in London, and thank you for the recent update.
“Growing up in a little town by the sea in the South East of England didn’t lend itself well to sampling vast amounts of vegan food. So, when I moved to London in 2019, I decided it would be a good idea to make up for lost time! My challenge was to visit one new restaurant a week in an effort to experience the best of London’s vegan eats. Fast forward to 2025, and I’ve managed to build up a fair bit of knowledge on London’s vegan food scene. The variety here is amazing and you can count on almost every place having at least one vegan option on the menu. However, I do have my favourites. Places that stand out for creativity, quality and taste. So, here are my recommendations for the top 10 vegan eats in London, I hope you enjoy!”
10. Sagar (vegetarian)
The South Indian food at Sagar is out of this world and the variety on the menu makes it even better. They have the largest vegetarian/vegan menu I have ever come across in one establishment and so far, I have not been disappointed by any of it. Their chefs are from a little town called Udupi and are renowned for their cooking of traditional South Indian food. I prefer to go to their restaurant in Covent Garden but they have three others dotted across the city.

9. What the Pitta (vegan)
My ninth favourite vegan establishment in London is What the Pitta. All of their food is prepared from scratch, including the bread, hummus, tzatziki and sauces. My favourites are the vegan doner and the couscous salad box. The spiced soya meat alternative that’s in all the items on the menu is delicious, I can’t get enough of the stuff! They also sell vegan baklava, which I can never say no to.

8. Tendril (vegetarian)
When I fancy a dose of fine dining, Tendril is my go-to. It’s a ‘mostly vegan’ kitchen, though I’d say it’s 99% vegan every time I’ve been and there’s always an alternative to the little bit of cheese that sometimes sneaks onto the menu. They offer a seasonal discovery dining set menu for £49 (plus £39 if you fancy the wine pairing), and honestly, it’s great. I’ve been a few times now, and each visit has been different. The dishes are consistently inventive, beautiful and full of flavour. It’s a little more elevated than most of the spots on this list, making it perfect for a special treat or date night.

7. Mallow (vegan)
From the team behind Mildreds (which I’ll talk about later!), Mallow is a slightly sleeker version perfect for special occasions. I’ve spent a fair few birthdays eating at Mallow as I love the vibe and central location, in Borough Market. The dishes and cocktails are delicious and presented beautifully – it feels like a real treat without being majorly expensive.

6. Jam Delish (vegan)
Jam Delish is my go-to for vegan Caribbean flavour! This family-run restaurant started as a street food stall and now operates out of a restaurant in Islington. The menu is packed with bold, spiced dishes like jerk “chicken”, curry “goat”, and plantain-topped mac and cheese (my favourite!). The cocktails are great too, making it perfect for a mid-week dinner with friends.

5. Purezza (vegan)
To Camden Town for the UK’s first plant-based pizzeria! Purezza is unmissable for vegan pizza lovers. They make their own, uniquely developed brown rice mozzarella along with raw cashew cheeses, ricotta-style cheese and a coconut cheese. Their dough is made using a family recipe from Italy which swaps normal flour for hemp flour making the pizzas a far healthier alternative. I couldn’t recommend a singular pizza from the menu as they are all delicious!

4. Tofu Vegan (vegan)
If you’re craving Chinese, Tofu Vegan should be high on your list. This restaurant is a game changer, with incredible fake meats and traditional Sichuan flavours. Their “chicken” in chilli oil, mapo tofu and vegan fish are definite highlights, but honestly, I’d recommend trying a few dishes to share as everything I’ve tried has been excellent and the menu is huge!

3. Club Mexicana (vegan)
I’m probably biased as I just love Mexican food, but still, you have to try Club Mexicana. They do vegan Mexican food better than anyone else in London. With locations in Soho, Shoreditch, and Seven Dials Market, it’s easy to find and always busy. Their BBQ pulled jackfruit and beer-battered “cheezeburger” tacos are amazing. I also can’t not get a frozen margarita! Club Mexicana

2. Pockets (vegan)
Tucked away under the railway arches by London Fields, Pockets is a must-visit for falafel enthusiasts. It started as a popular stall in Netil Market, renowned for its steamed pita pockets filled with crispy falafel, potato and homemade salads and sauces. The combination of flavours is mind-blowing. I challenge you to find a better falafel pitta! The only downside is there is always a long queue so I’d recommend getting there early to beat the lunch rush.

1. Mildreds (vegetarian)
And finally, we reach my favourite vegan eatery in the whole of London. Colourful, healthy, international vegan food, Mildreds is my go-to restaurant for all occasions. But really, I don’t need an excuse to go because I love everything about it. The menu is varied, interesting and updated regularly depending on what’s in season. If you only eat at one vegan restaurant while in London, it has to be Mildreds. It’s mine and everyone else’s favourite for a reason!

Vegan Food Quest at Darwin Brasserie
We’ve had the pleasure to dine at a number of the restaurants listed above and Mildreds at #1 works for us. It’s a London vegan institution and where we joined friends in 2014 for our last meal before moving to Southeast Asia. However, on our most recent trip back we had the absolute pleasure to dine at Darwin Brasserie and the service, the views and the food were exceptional. So in order to add a Vegan Food Quest personal touch to this Vegan Guide to London we had to give them a mention, although they are not a vegan restaurant they are most certainly worth a visit when you are next in London.
