DoubleTree Johor Bahru

The DoubleTree Johor Bahru opened in July 2014 and provides a great option when staying in Johor Bahru. This contemporary hotel is in the Central Business District and just minutes from the border crossing to Singapore. We enjoyed a modern and spacious 1 bedroom suite with all of the amenities you’d expect from a hotel of this class. The bright and airy room had great views across the causeway to Singapore in the distance from large windows in both rooms. Along with the stylish guest rooms and suites, there are 8 function rooms which can hold up to 800 guests, including a ballroom and outside function area. There are 2 main restaurants, Makan Kitchen and Tosca, the latter which has outdoor seating and views across the pool area. The hotel is a perfect base if you have a family and they want to visit the nearby Legoland and one of the Legoland dinosaurs was a favourite with the guest for a quick photo in the lobby.

The Vegan Food

We were treated to some delicious vegan food throughout our stay, special thanks must go to Chef and his team for going above and beyond to make sure we didn’t go hungry. At breakfast we were treated to amazing Indian and Chinese food (made especially for us to make sure it was vegan) as well being able to choose from fresh fruit and salad options. During the evening we were made different vegan canapés every night, showcasing the great ability of the DoubleTree chefs at cooking vegan food. The Vegan Food Quest Verdict

Check in to the DoubleTree Johor Bahru if you want a great base to explore Singapore from, have children who want to visit Legoland or want a great value redemption for your HHonors points. In our opinion, this business hotel in the centre of Johor Bahru is one of the best DoubleTree by Hilton hotels in the region and well worth considering.

Update – August 2018

We loved our return to DoubleTree Johor Bahru, after nearly 4 years the hotel is still modern and bright and the staff are still super friendly; the concierge remembered us as we arrived and that moment forward it was a perfect stay. Vegan food was arranged for that evening in the Executive Lounge from Tosca including pasta, grilled vegetables on focaccia and a rich Italian tomato soup; next morning the team at Makan Kitchen showed us around the breakfast buffet, explaining which items were vegan and offering to make a couple of fresh dishes, a selection of Indian food with a delicious masala dosa and smashed avocado on toast with cherry tomatoes and balsamic. If you choose to stay here you will not be disappointed, let them know at check in you’re vegan and enjoy the plant based creations on offer; one thing is for certain, we won’t wait 4 years before our next visit!
