St Regis Kuala Lumpur

Since opening in 2016, St Regis Kuala Lumpur has continued to welcome both business and leisure travellers who have enjoyed its unique blend of contemporary luxury and refined elegance. Globally, and for more than 120 years, St Regis has been synonymous with The House of Astor, and is a name that is recognised as one of the finest in the world of luxury hospitality. The location of St Regis Kuala Lumpur is perfect for those arriving from KLIA via KL Sentral, as the hotel is just two minutes from the station using their complimentary shuttle service. This made our arrival seamless, and that feeling continued in the lobby where Mr Alif and his colleagues checked us in with professionalism and ease, explaining the essentials before showing us to our chosen room for a luxury and vegan friendly staycation.

Our Grand Deluxe King room was refined and luxurious, exactly what we would expect from the St Regis brand. From automatic curtains and an espresso machine to digital control panels and a mirror that doubles as a TV at the foot of the bathtub, every modern convenience was covered. The sumptuous bed was so comfortable we did not want to leave, and our sleep was perfectly feather free as we were able to order pillows of our choice from the Beauty Rest Menu. This menu also offered a range of bath rituals, spa experiences, and bedtime indulgences designed to enhance our night of relaxation.

Plant & Palate – A Vegetarian Brunch

With seven restaurants and bars, dining at St Regis Kuala Lumpur offers something for everyone, with the monthly Plant & Palate – A Vegetarian Brunch at The Brasserie being a highlight for vegan travellers. The elegant and extensive buffet featured vegan terrines, local seaweeds, plant based caviar, creamy mushroom soup, and an impressive array of other plant based dishes that showcased the kitchen’s creativity. The cashew based aged vegan cheese from D’Artisan Cheese, served with chutneys, crackers, and dried fruit, was exceptional and disappeared quickly. A beautifully presented roasted miso eggplant dish preceded the main course, served table side and refined, flavourful, and perfectly executed. The main course itself was equally as impressive with the accompanying gravy being flavour packed and delicious. Desserts, a trio of sweet creations, completed the meal, with inventive non alcoholic pairings enhancing every course. Executive Chef Azizi and his team delivered a plant forward, sustainable, and indulgent dining experience that exceeded all of our lofty expectations.

Vegan Breakfast at St Regis Kuala Lumpur

After our vegan feast on the previous day, we were excited to enjoy our vegan breakfast which was also to be served at The Brasserie. It was an absolute treat, with an impressive buffet and a vegetarian menu with clearly labelled vegan options. Avocado on sourdough is one of our ‘go to’ vegan breakfast choices and The Brasserie version was one of the highlights featuring sliced avocado atop creamy guacamole and lightly toasted sourdough. We enjoyed local favourites such as congee and rice noodles with tofu and vegetables, alongside the delightful beetroot hummus garden from the vegetarian menu. From the noodle station we ordered rice noodles with tofu and veggies which was excellent and paired perfectly with fried spring rolls with dipping sauce that also featured on the vegetarian breakfast menu. Freshly squeezed juices, tropical fruits, and extra sourdough with jams made the meal feel indulgent without being too heavy.  Just as we were finishing our long and lazy breakfast, Executive Chef Azizi appeared with more of the excellent vegan cheese that we had loved at brunch the previous day; served with grapes, berries, and crackers, this was a lovely surprise that made our morning feel extra special.

The Vegan Essentials

The thoughtful touches continued beyond our room the dining experiences. As previously mentioned, guests can request feather free bedding, including pillows made from 100% organic buckwheat or designed for superior neck support by selecting from the in room menu. Like all Marriott properties, St Regis Kuala Lumpur reduces the use of single use plastics by providing drinking water in refillable glass bottles instead. Leisure facilities include the luxurious Iridium Spa, a rooftop infinity pool with skyline views, and a modern and fully equipped 24 hour gym. These details, combined with attentive butler service and elegant design, created a stay that balanced indulgence with supreme comfort and sustainability.

Art installations at St Regis Kuala Lumpur

Art is woven into the identity of St Regis Kuala Lumpur, making the property feel part hotel, part art gallery. Guests are invited to join an art tour with the butler team, who share insights into the hotel’s impressive collection. Ms Amanda and Mr Hilman guided us with warmth and knowledge, and it was clear how passionate they were about the art around them. Highlights included the magnificent Horse Sculpture by Fernando Botero, which commands attention with its bold form and central position in The Drawing Room. Whilst Marc Quinn’s Winter Garden portfolio is a striking collection that captures nature’s beauty in a contemporary way, exploring the quest for eternal beauty. We enjoyed being introduced to these works, along with many others throughout the property, that create a sense of culture and sophistication that perfectly complements the St Regis brand.

The Vegan Food Quest Verdict

St Regis Kuala Lumpur is widely regarded as one of Malaysia’s leading luxury hotels, and our stay confirmed why. The butler team were omni present, friendly and attentive, while the excellent staff team at The Brasserie served plate after plate of creative and beautifully presented plant based cuisine. Staying here at any time will delight even the most discerning vegan luxury traveller, but staying over the first weekend of the month to enjoy the outstanding Plant & Palate brunch elevates the experience further. It is refined, elegant, and deliciously indulgent, everything a luxury vegan stay in Kuala Lumpur should be.
