Anantara Siam Bangkok Hotel

Anantara Siam Bangkok Hotel is one of those Bangkok properties that feels special from the moment you arrive. Set in the smart Ratchadamri district, it’s perfectly placed for shopping, temples and transportation, yet somehow manages to feel like a calming oasis from the bustling city outside. From the smooth airport transfer to the chilled rosella tea served at check in, everything felt unhurried and thoughtful. The lobby immediately draws you in, with high ceilings, glittering chandeliers and a beautiful hand woven Thai silk mural that depicts the coronation of King Rama I and the founding of Bangkok in 1782. Even the bespoke hotel key cards reference this masterpiece, a respectful nod to this storied work of art that has been on display since the hotel opened in 1983. Anantara Siam is currently evolving with a major transformation currently underway, spaces are being refreshed and reimagined to keep the hotel firmly at the luxury end of Bangkok’s hotel scene. What already stands out is how naturally the hotel caters to guests who wish to eat vegan food. Plant based dining isn’t treated as an afterthought, and that alone makes it feel like a genuinely vegan friendly hotel rather than one that’s just ticking boxes.

Our room at Anantara Siam Bangkok Hotel

We stayed in one of the newly updated Siam Rooms on the sixth floor and it felt both polished and welcoming. Recessed wood panelling and striking artwork gave the space character, while modern touches kept everything practical and comfortable. The bed was excellent, with a choice of pillows including a non feather option, and the room felt quiet and restful despite being in the heart of the city. The marble bathroom was generous in size, with a free standing bathtub and a brilliant GROHE ‘push button’ shower that made life in the shower refreshingly simple with no guessing which dial does what. We also appreciated the espresso machine and the yoga mat, which made an early morning stretch before breakfast easily attainable. It’s the kind of room that works equally well for chilling after a long day out or easing into a slow morning before tackling the new day ahead.

The Vegan Food at Anantara Siam Bangkok Hotel

Dining at Anantara Siam Bangkok Hotel is where things really start to shine for vegan food lovers. With multiple restaurants to select from and clearly marked vegetarian and vegan options, eating plant based here feels easy and genuinely enjoyable. Breakfast at Parichart Court quickly became something we looked forward to. The buffet is extensive, with live stations and a wide range of cuisines, and crucially, plenty of options that are actually vegan rather than almost vegan. Mornings started with fragrant noodle soup with tofu, plain congee with toppings, or South Indian favourites like idli, sambar and chutneys. There were also Middle Eastern mezze, crisp salads, vegan maki rolls and rice balls, plus almond, soy and oat milk for cereal and granola. We loved being able to add pumpkin, chia and sunflower seeds for a little extra protein. From the à la carte menu, the vegan options included avocado on sourdough which was fresh and nutritious, but the vegan shakshuka stole the show for us, it was rich, gently spiced and simply delicious making it our Anantara Siam breakfast favourite.

Vegan Afternoon Tea at Anantara Siam

The Lobby Lounge is one of those spaces that feels instantly elegant without being intimidating. A pianist played softly in the background as we settled in for vegan afternoon tea, and the service was warm and attentive from the start. We chose a caffeine free Rouge Bourbon tea from Mariage Frères, which turned out to be a great match for both the savoury and the sweet offerings. The savoury selection included five sandwiches, all thoughtfully created and beautifully presented. The coronation chickpea on wholewheat bread was a standout, as was the focaccia with smoked beetroot and mandarin orange, which was satisfyingly light and fresh. The sweets arrived with a bit of theatre, presented in a miniature British phone box branded with Elemis, part of the hotel’s afternoon tea collaboration during our stay. Highlights included an almond milk brownie and a crisp filo mille feuille layered with vegan cream and berries. Everything felt carefully considered and well balanced, making this a truly memorable vegan afternoon tea experience.

The Vegan Food at Biscotti

Dinner at Biscotti was a real treat and one of the best vegan Italian meals we’ve had the pleasure to enjoy. Chef Giuseppe and his team have created a dedicated vegan menu that felt generous, creative, and true to Italian flavours. The service was friendly and relaxed which made the evening feel easy going and enjoyable. We started with ‘Panzanella Alla Siciliana’, where sweet organic tomatoes, balsamic roasted onions and silky almond cream combined perfectly. A green asparagus salad followed, paired with pomelo, rocket, and a sharp lemon dressing. Our pasta courses were excellent, the ‘Spaghetti Al Pomodorino’ had slow cooked heirloom cherry tomatoes with their skins on, simple but full of flavour, and the ‘Strozzapreti Ala Funghi Selvatici’ finished with basil oil was earthy, flavour packed and comforting. A grilled broccoli steak surprised us, lightly charred and served with tofu mayo, nuts, and pesto. Grilled eggplant stuffed with caponata came next, it was rich and perfectly seasoned. The creative plant based food kept coming and certainly kept us smiling; from lychee sorbet to a vegan panna cotta and a selection of vegan cheeses that were a proper indulgence and ended our memorable Biscotti experience.

The Vegan Food at Spice Market

Lunch at Spice Market was another highlight and a reminder of just how exciting Thai food can be when done well. We were welcomed with a complimentary lime and pineapple juice, followed by ‘Miang Kham’, a traditional Thai snack of betel leaves filled with peanuts, coconut, shallots, chilli and tamarind. It’s messy, hands on and full of flavour, a great way to wake up the palate. From the vegan menu which was presented by Chef Punn, we started with ‘Yam Som O’, a pomelo salad served as three small portions, each topped with fried tofu and house chilli paste. It was fresh, spicy and beautifully balanced. For mains, we shared a flavoursome green curry with baby eggplant, deep fried tofu with crispy garlic and chilli, and a genuinely outstanding ‘Pad Krapow’ made with plant based crispy pork and Thai basil. Everything was served with nutty brown rice from Phattalung province in Southern Thailand, which worked particularly well with the creamy curry. Dessert was mango sticky rice topped with pandan cotton candy, playful, sweet and an creative interpretation of our favourite Thai dessert.

The Vegan Essentials at Anantara Siam Bangkok Hotel

We didn’t make it to the gym, but the recently renovated pool area looked like a great place to unwind after a day in the city. We did however, find time for a massage at the tranquil and opulent Anantara Spa, and it was exactly what we needed. Traditional Thai design styles combined with the calming and soothing atmosphere which made it very easy to switch off and relax during our rejuvenating aromatherapy massage. Back in the room, clearly labelled vegan snacks in the minibar were a small but much appreciated touch. Non feather pillow options, reusable glass water bottles and refillable ceramic bathroom dispensers all pointed to a more sustainable approach to luxury, something we increasingly look for when travelling.

The Vegan Food Quest Verdict

Anantara Siam Bangkok Hotel is already a strong choice for vegan luxury travel lovers, and once the current transformation is complete, the experience is only going to get better. The hotel manages to honour its long history while clearly moving forward, and that balance comes through in everything from the rooms to the dining. What really stood out for us was the consistency of the vegan offering. From breakfast through to dinner, afternoon tea and in room snacks, plant based food is well considered and readily available, huge respect to Executive Chef Justin and his team for making this happen. Combine these creative culinary adventures, with the central location, elegant spaces, relaxing spa and genuinely warm service, then Anantara Siam feels like a vegan friendly luxury hotel that understands the needs of the modern luxury traveller. We’re very much looking forward to returning post transformation to experience once again this well regarded hotel in Bangkok.
